Lismore Youth LEAD the Way by Organizing a Beach Clean-up on World Oceans Day!

It was a windy, rainy day at Lismore Beach in Nova Scotia on June 8th for World Oceans Day but that didn’t stop the Lismore youthLEADarts crew from lending a helping hand.

They collected over 200 lobster bands and 8 bags of garbage from our beautiful beach.

After the cleanup, youthLEADarts in partnership with Canadian Marine Environment Protection Society’s Roy Mulder hosted a whale talk and luncheon prepared by our very own Chair of the Youth Advisory Committee, Melanie McDuff and her mom Lesley. There were prizes donated by local businesses: The LBR, Your Place Eatery, and Quality Seafood to celebrate the youth who took ACTION.

This has become a yearly event in Lismore, NS and our youth are definitely blazing the trail to environmental activism as they LEAD the way in land stewardship!
