The Mentorship Circle Continues to Grow in Nova Scotia

May is a time for planting seeds. The seeds of mentorship through the arts continues to grow here in Nova Scotia in our Lismore and Little Harbour programs thanks to Quebec LEAD artist Deirdre Potash who provided the inspiration for our curvy art designs with paper.

Our youth were introduced to “Queen of the Curve” architect Zaha Hadid whose futuristic, curvilinear designs have received multiple prestigious awards from around the world.

Youth focused in on this art-making process, took ACTION, DROVE their designs to completion and supported each other in the process.

“I really let go today and stopped trying to make everything perfect. I played with the materials and it felt great!” said one of our youth participants.

Another youth shared that she had written a book report in school on Zaha Hadid and exclaimed excitedly, “Now I get to create with curves too!”

We connected through musical hula hoops and art making this month making our circle stronger.

A big shoutout to Deirdre whose art workshops and support help us LEADers in different regions across Canada, Turtle Island continue to inspire our youth to be the best that they can be through creativity.

Thank you, Merci, Wela’lin Deirdre from the leadership team here in Nova Scotia. We appreciate you and all you do for youthLEADarts.
