Youth in Little Harbour, Nova Scotia, through their actions have inspired and motivated other youth across the country to be the best they can be, to go where they are needed, to make their voices heard and to begin conversations about establishing programs similar to theirs in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. They have impacted youth thousands of miles away!
Though the season’s programs in Little Harbour, Nova Scotia have wrapped up, youthLEADarts is currently fundraising for both the week-long summer program which will be held in Little Harbour in July and for next year’s programs which run monthly from September to June. For just $100 you can sponsor a youth to attend in July and expand upon their creative, leadership and self-development qualities in a supportive, safe, and encouraging environment. Contact Shelley MacDonald at info@youthleadarts.com if you or your business can help out.

Here is what youth in Little Harbour are saying about the impact LEAD programs have had on them these past months:
“I listen more openly when people are talking. I help out more at home and at school without being asked too. I just take ACTION!”
“I made new friends because everyone was kind and made me feel welcome.”
“I like coming to youthLEADarts! It’s fun and I always learn something new!”
The final session of the season in Little Harbour was a beautiful one of reflection, outdoor play, bubble art led by youth mentor Melanie McDuff and freezies in celebration of participants’ LEADership journeys.
Have a safe and happy summer everyone! We will see some of you in July for our week-long LEADership camp and then again in the fall for more exciting, youth driven programming.
