Johnny Baker MacDonald Awarded Outstanding Volunteer Award

The LEAD summer rec program in Lismore Nova Scotia wrapped up last week with a pizza party and youth volunteer appreciation day!

Lismore Summer Rec staff and I handed out certificates and small gift packs to LEAD youth. I presented the award of a back-to-school gift card ($100 value) to LEAD volunteer of the summer, Johnny Baker MacDonald.

Johnny dedicated the most volunteer hours (80 hours) this summer to the program. The staff felt that he was really helpful, spent a lot of time connecting with the kids and supporting the staff. Johnny was the first one to show up and the last one to leave. He even stopped in on days he wasn’t volunteering at the end of the day to help with clean up etc. Johnny is a shining of example of what LEADership is, and the staff felt strongly about honouring his commitment to the program and kids in our community.

Our other volunteers dedicated many hours too.

Sienna 68 hours

Lola     43 hours

Lily      10 hours

Emily   13 hours

Isla       37 hours

A total of 251 volunteer hours by these incredible youthLEADarts mentees! They put the V in volunteerism!

We wish them all the best as they head back to school!
