Breaking News: youthLEADarts Awarded $10,000 Free to Play Grant in Nova Scotia!

youthLEADarts Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that they have received a $10,000 grant from Free to Play through the Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia! The grant will be put towards creating an outdoor adventure space designed by our youth leaders in partnership with Lismore Hall community volunteers that will incorporate the LEAD values of Listen, Empathize, Act and Drive.

Listen to the Land: Community Connection Through youth LEADership and Intergenerational Mentorship has already begun with EastCut’s Senior sawyer Robert Ennis leading a workshop on how to use tools, keep a work site clean, and build birdhouses for our interactive trail/space. We are excited about this youth driven initiative that will be shaped by community consultation, mentorship, and volunteer engagement. The project will transform existing natural and recreational spaces into a cohesive outdoor leadership environment designed to support healthy risk-taking, creativity, environmental stewardship and intergenerational connection!

Free to play is a national initiative supported by the community Foundations of Canada, Waltons Trust, The Lawson Foundation and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities designed to support children through the power of outdoor play. Stay tuned for more updates as our project continues to develop!
