Nova Scotia Programs Underway With Outstanding Youth Volunteers

Meet some of the wonderful volunteers who are making this an extra special summer for rural youth in Nova Scotia. Programs are running weekdays in Lismore from July 7th to August 22nd

Johnny Baker MacDonald has been a part of the youthLEADarts program since it started in Lismore. He puts the V into volunteering taking everything he has learned at our LEAD program and putting it out there in the community. He is a regular volunteer at our annual beach clean ups, community dinners, and has even helped Melanie and Shelley during spring break with the Little Harbour Community Centre’s program. He LOVES food, eating and family. His favourite colour is red and he looks forward to improving his leadership skills this summer. He is going into grade 10 at the North Nova Education Centre.

Meet Johnny Baker MacDonald.

Emily MacDonald:  Is currently away on holidays and will be joining our volunteer team later in the summer. Emily is going into grade 8 in the fall at Frank H. Macdonald School and is a regular attendee of the year round youthLEADarts program.

Isla MacDonald: Isla is someone who loves to draw and be outside. She feels happiest in nature and will be going into grade 8 in the fall at Frank H. MacDonald School. She loves a good pasta dish and the colour blue. She is a regular participant through the year at youthLEADarts and is also looking forward to putting the LEAD values into ACTION this summer.

Sienna Gettis: Sienna has been a part of the youthLEADarts family since 2024 attending the monthly LEADership program. She feels happy when she is hanging out with good people and watching her favourite movies. She is a homeschool student going into grade11 in the fall. She looks forward to making new friends this summer and eating her favourite food: pizza with mushrooms. She loves the colour bright blue. She looks forward to applying and putting the LEAD values of listen, empathize, act and drive into ACTION.

Meet Sienna Gettis.

Lola Novak: Lola has been attending the youthLEADarts program and summer rec since the beginning. She says she is somebody that loves sleep and the colours jade green and purple. She is going into grade 8 in the fall at Frank H. MacDonald School. She is excited about volunteering and helping out this summer and is bringing the values of Listen and Act to the program.
