The Recipe for LEADership? Making Rice Creepy Treats at October’s LEAD Meeting in Lismore

Who doesn’t love edible art? With ghosts, ghouls, tricks and treats on their minds as they count the days until Halloween, Lismore youth made rice ‘creepy’ treats at their gathering last week. Local community chef, Lesley McDuff dropped in to lend a hand.

Melanie and Johnny, LEAD’s outstanding youth mentors, designed and ‘executed’ this fabulous session which highlighted confidence building games, painting and culinary capers, launching this year’s youthLEADarts program at Lismore Hall in rural Nova Scotia.

One of the youths commented that they loved, “Everything!” A big ‘howl’ out to all who participated and to all who make youthLEADarts programs possible in Lismore. In this spooky season, youth had a safe space to create, to explore and to find community on a ‘dark and stormy night…’

Look for upcoming posts on the Trunk or Treat event this Friday. November’s meeting will feature local artist April Stewart from Eigg Mountain Escape. April will be leading a jewellery making workshop using found sea glass, just in time to make gifts for the holidays!
