youthLEADarts is excited to welcome Brooklyn and Devan as contributors to our blog. They are volunteering to write several stories over the summer and beyond, offering insight into what youth are thinking, feeling and responding to in the world around them.
Brooklyn will be going into grade 9 in the fall. She is a youthLEADarts graduate who has returned to volunteer for afterschool programs and to mentor her younger peers.
Brooklyn has always loved acting and has been performing since she was 12 years old. The last show she did was The Breakfast Club where she played a clock. She has also written scripts and stories that have been produced. Her latest is a story about Disney princesses.
Devan loves playing sports such as soccer and basketball and has been playing since he was seven years old. Over the years he developed a love for poetry and has started writing pieces which have won awards through his school as well as through the Royal Canadian Legion. He will be going into grade 9 in the fall.
Brooklyn and Devan will also be speaking at our fundraiser on July 22nd. We look forward to hearing their perspectives on all things youth!
