We are especially grateful that she has been leading jewelry and crocheting workshops for youth in Lismore. - [“An East Side Story” Student Photography Exhibition Opens](https://www.youthleadarts.com/an-east-side-story-student-photography-exhibition-opens/): This week marked the opening of “An East Side Story” a public exhibit featuring photographs and poetry by grade 6 and 7 students at Britannia Elementary. There was laughter, joy, celebration and pride.&nbsp; The exhibition followed on the heels of a week-long series of workshops delivered by LEAD artists where youth explored drama, photography, poetry and Indigenous concepts of community as they wrote about and captured photos of theirs.&nbsp; Seeing their art in a public space was transformational for these young creators, and provided an experience that will resonate positively with them for years to come. Lismore Summer Rec staff and I handed out certificates and small gift packs to LEAD youth. I presented the award of a back-to-school gift card ($100 value) to LEAD volunteer of the summer, Johnny Baker MacDonald.&nbsp; Johnny dedicated the most volunteer hours (80 hours) this summer to the program. - [Britannia Community School 2021](https://www.youthleadarts.com/programs-and-workshops/britannia-community-school/): Past Programs and Workshops: 2021 Britannia Community School- Vancouver ON-LINE PROGRAM IN VANCOUVER:  2021 youthLEADarts&#8217; program in Vancouver’s East Side placed 18 students of Britannia Community School, aged 11 – 13, in an intense, two week  arts program through which they discovered their strengths, addressed some of their challenges, and developed communication and leadership skills.  It contributed to preparing them for the journey from elementary to secondary school and beyond with empowering experiences. The 2021 project fostered personal growth in the students, allowing them to shed pre-­existing labels and step outside of difﬁcult life circumstances to see themselves as change makers. [&hellip;]
